PERJURY ADMITTED
MAORI AT WAITARA
COMMITTAL FOE SENTENCE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, 9th August. Perjury was admitted by Pakero'ri Waiiti, known as Ted White, when lie was charged on two counts before Justices in the Police Court at Waitara. He was committed for sentence to the Supreme Court. Bail was allowed. White, a Pukearuhe Native, committed the offences during his appearance on judgment summons proceedings before Mr. E. W. Tate, S.M., at Waitara. Tho charges wore: That being j a witness on Cth June" ho gave evidence on oath in open Court that he had not driven his ear for sis months, and that he was not ; at th> Stratford races in January, 1930, such assertions being known by hir/ to be false and intended to mislead the Court; that on 4th July ho' committed perjury by falsely swearing, "I did not drive my car through TJrenui on 25th May last. I am sure it is more than three months since I drove the car. I was not at the Stratford races in January, 1930. I did not draw a dividend on Monsogne. I waa last there when Grand Lupin won."
