GOODWOOD STAKES
•Joyous Greeting, owned by Mvs. Glorney, a . six-year-old bay horde, winner o£ the Goodwood Stakes, is by Yutoi, from Reception, by Melton, from Social, by St. Simon. The horse did a lot of racing last 'season, and won three handicaps. He was placed second in three races, and twice third. Joyous Greeting was altogether oirtcJa&giJ ia the Cesarewitch. Stakes*
finishing a long way back; but after that race he showed his best form when he beat Jugo and The Bastard in the Williams Memorial Handicap^ two miles, at Sandown Park. This year Mrs. Glorney's horse, up to 21st June, had started in four races. He was not placed i.i two, finished third'! in the Cosmopolitan Cup, two miles and a quarter, at Lingfield, but in an attempt to win the Ascot Stakes, two miles, he was a long way behind the leading, division. Medarlin, second,, is a five: year-old brown gelding by Meleager, from Bachelor's Darling. He is owned by Sir Charles Hyde. Lord Derby's six-year-old chestnut gelding, West Wicklow, that finished third, is by Tangiers, from Bachelor's Dream. Acragas, winner of the Liverpool Summer Cup, and owned by Mr. M. Field, is a four-year-old bay horse by Phalaris from Marissa, by John o' Gaunt from Damaris, by Sunstar from Lesbia, from St. Frusquin.
