THE CHAMBER CONCERT
The afternoon's chamber concert was just the type it should have been. The programme was well arranged, the items being neither too heavy nor too light. The result was an exceedingly pleasant concert which deserved a larger audience. It opened with, a sparklingly played trio, Bizet's "Intermezzo," arranged by Kreisler. Miss Eudora Henry was at the piano, Miss Frances Henry played tho violin part, and Mr. Cecil Smallbono was the 'cellist. It was a polished performance. Elgar's "Like to the Damask Hose" was eminently suitable' for Miss Ngairo Coster's voice, and was one of the best vocal items of tho afternoon. This was followed \fy Schumann's "Koinanzen," Mr. A. H. F. Wright playing the clarinet, with Mrs. Wright at the piano. It was somewhat of a novelty item, excellently played. Three Scarlatti numbers were played by Mr. Trevor Fisher on the piano, all delightful in the extreme. The robust voice of Signor Lueien Cesaroni, was heard to striking advantage in a Mozart bracket, "Sa-r----astro's Aria" from "The Magic Flute" and "Serenade" from. "Don Juan." The same trio, who opened the concert then contributed "Gurlitt's "Adagio," which was even better played ■ than the initial number, and this was then followed by "Villanelle," charmingly sung by Miss Kathleen Wood. Violin' solos by Mr. William Haydock included Kreisler's "Tamburin Chinois" and the Schubert-Wil-helmj "Aye Maria." The Wellington Ladies' Trio (-Miss Nora Gray, Mrs. J. Townley, and Mrs. J. E. Bamsoy), brought the concert to a close with "Greetings" (Brahms) and "To Aurora" from Mozart's "Magic Flute." The accompanists were Miss Mavis Dillon and Mr. Trevor Fisher..
