SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
The extensive cyclone which has been covering the Dominion has become double centred, this morning one centre being located west of Farewell Spit and the other east of Cook Strait. As a result, the winds have had little force in the central provinces, where directions have been variable, but in the northern districts strong west to south-west winds have prevailed, and the greater part of the South Island has experienced strong southerlies. Unsettled, thick, misty weather has ruled, with rain in all districts. There have been many heavy falls in the North Island and the east coast of tho South Island. A few places in the South have reported snow, but, on the whole, temperatures have been, rather mild.
