THE WATER BOARD
■UPPER HUTT'S POSITION
The secession of Petone and Lower Hutt. from'the Wellington City and Suburban Water Supply Board and its effect ou Upper Hutt were again discussed by the Upper Hutt Borough Council last night.
The Mayor (My. P. Robertson) said that the withdrawal of Petone and Lower Hutt would mean an increase of one-fifth of the annual cost to the remaining bodies. He recommended strongly that Upper Hutt should stay in with the board. Uegrct was expressed by Councillor J. O. Duff at the secession of the two boroughs, because it' gave Wellington . the preponderance of voting, strength on the board. The Jla.vor agreed with this, and moved that Lower Hutt ,vould agree, to Petoue's and Lower Hutt's withdrawal on condition that Wellington reduced its representation on the board from the Mayor and four councillors to the Slay or andj two councillors. ■. .■•:....-.•". .
