HAVERING

HOW HE WON

Carrying list 41b and finishing as 'straight as a gun barrel, Havering showed himself once again to be a master sprinter in the mud at Trentham on Saturday. " Both Prince of Orange and Hopwood threw out very strong challenges over the last furlong, but, kept up to his work with-hands and heels, Havering was always superior. At one stage both Prince of Orange_ and Hopwood looked like overhauling him, but he was doing best of all on the post. Prince of Orange mustered up rather surprising brilliancy and ran one of his best races. No excuse could be offered for Hopwood, this time. He was not good enough. Marble King and Goblin Market were the pacemakers, for five furlongs, but that was the end of their tether, while Kiosk was not in the picture at any stage, beating only Royal Opera and Goblin Market home.
