WINTER SHOW
SATURDAY'S CROWD
BUSY EVENING SESSIOX
Saturday's takings at the "Winter Show were £48f>, or £18 more than on the corresponding day last year. Friday's "gate" was £.192 11s. So far the takings are well on a par with those of. last year, the "hard times" notwithstanding, which shows that the big fair fills a decided want. It may be that, visitors are considering the problem of how to make the best i;su of their money, all the facts in regard to which are to bo obtained at the various manufacturers' stalls, or it may be that they would feel remiss in not parading the great meeting ground in order to greet their friends arid hear tho week's news, with au occasional] fling at one of tho many sideshows, which appear to be doing very well. The Stock Show closes tqjday, but 1 there will, shortly be other contests to 1 interest the public. -The poultry show, . with which this year will be incor- '■ porated. the exhibits' of pigeons, i canaries, cats, and rabbits, will open ! for three days on Thursday. On Saturi day morning will begin the Dog Trials, and the- Kennel Club's Show will comi menee on the 25th. ; The interesting working models are i still being judged, and tho results may shortly be,expected. One of the • most popular parts of the show is the tearooms, where tho takings have kept ' u-ell up to last year's figures so ■far.
