ISLAND BAY CLUB
There was a large attendance ot members at the thirteenth annual meeting of the Island Bay Bowling Club, over which llr. J. if. M'llroy presided.
The annual report and , balance-sheet (previously published) were adopted.
■JVh\ jU'llroy congratulated the club on its healthy condition. Several new members were elected, and prospects for a good season are bright.
The following officers for 1930-31 were elected: President, Mr. J. M. Hale; vicepresident. Mr. .U. Munvo; lion, secretary,' Mr. ]f. V. Clarke; bon. treasurer, Mr. T. G. I'itkctis; management committee, Messrs. J. IT. M'Tlroy, W. Kcrr, G. W. Key, J. .Tonkins. J. A. Conder, E. A. lieu-roil, W. J. Churchill. 11. Hobbs, ami If. Dixon. M"r. H. Hifcchins, S.F.A.L, w;is re-elected hon. auditor.
The annual subscription was fixed at £4 if, reducible to £3 15s if paid by Ist Kovenibcr next.
Jtessrs. J. A. L'on'der, W. J. Forking and IT. C..Parsons were elected selectors for Saturday matches, and JJr. W. L. nM'l.eau sole sclectov for AVednesday fixtures.
Tb was decided to appoint a small committee to visit any of the members who may from time to time be laid aside through sickness. Messrs. Hale, Mtmro, Jenkins, and Key will carry out this work. Regarding senior pennants, the meeting expressed itself in favour of a competition carried through by eight rinks from every club participating. The Wellington Bowling Centrejs to be approached regarding the desirability of an understanding among the affiliated clubs whereby members transferring from one club to another shall not be called upon to pay a further entrance fee. An appeal from the Island Bay School Rugby fifteens for assistance in procuring jerseys met with a heartj* response, the collection realising £3 10s.
For the third year hi succession a proposal \v;is lircnifi'ht forward to introduce Sinidny play. The motion was defeated without discussion by 30 votes to 15.
In future a half-yearly meeting of members will be held during the month of January.
•Prreentatinns were made during the evening to Mr. H. F. Clarke, who enters upon his fourteenth year as secretary, and to Ah. H. Dixon, who resigned from the position of treasurer after three years* service.
Flpniry thanks were accorded last year's officers and eoinmitteemeu, especially the secretary, treasurer, and hon. auditor.
