FIRST CONCERT TO-NIGHT
At the Town Hall to-night, Mr. WiUielm li;ickliaus will give the first of his two Wellington recitals, under the direction of E. J. Gravestock, Ltd. The distinguished pianist neetls no introduction to Wellington music-lovers, for his visit four years ago is still fresh in the memory. One of the outstanding personalities 'in the musical world, he has been before the public for nearly thirty years. His work since his departure from New Zealand has been followed with vivid interest by those in touch with the Older World. His march of progress, even from, the eminent position he held for many years amongst the great geniuses of his time, has been astounding. His return to Australia and Kew Zealand has been accompanied by the same remarkable success which attended his first visit, and enormous audiences have assembled whenever he has played. For his first programme to-night, Mr. Br.ckhaus will play the following works, which he did not play on his first visit: Italian Concerto (Bach), Sonata, opus 31, No. 3 in E flat major (Beethoven), Sonata, opus 81 in E flat major (Beethoven), Four Studies from opus 10. by Chopin, Nocturne, opus 62 in Q Major. Prelude in B flat Major, and Scherzo in C Sharp Minor, all by Chopin. Other works to be given include the ever-popular "Liebestraume" (Liszt), '"Hungarian Rhapsody" (Liszt), Serenade from "Don Juan" (Mozart-Back-, haus), n'nd Waltz, opus 64 in B Flat Major (Chopin).
The second recital will be given on Monday evening. Plaus and day sales, are at the Bristol.
