LATE FEE BOXES
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The efficiency of the Post Office is too well known and appreciated to need imy laudatory remarks, but the point raised in this letter seems worthy of consideration. Why are not late-fee boxes provided at the. gangway of the Kangitikei and Rangitata, for example? The Rangitata was scheduled to sail fourteen hours after the late fee mail; closed at the G.P.0., ajjd her mail is due in London six to seven days ahead of the nest Vancourver mail. At the bureau on the ship one could not obtain an English stamp (New Zealand stamps not being eligible), and one swas advised to search out the third mate —finally the matter had _to be "ai'ranged" with a steward. Is the matter not worthy of consideration? —I am, etc.,
LATE FEE.
