INTOXICATED DRIVER
£10 FINE IMPOSED
Charged with being intoxicated while in charge of. a car, Allan Nelson Auld, a salesman, aged 31, -was fined £10 by Mr. T. B. M'Neil, &.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning,, Anld's licence was also cancelled, and he was prohibited from obtaining another one imtil 31st May, 1931. Sub-Inspector Lopdell said the accused ■was observed standing by a motor-car m Tory street. He was under the influence of liquor, and he got into the car and was about to drive away. The accused asked that his licence be not endorsed as it meant his livelihood. Sub-Inspector Lopdell said that the position had come to this: that those people who did not realise their responsibilities when they took a drink and drove a car should not be allowed to have a licence at all.
