THE SECRET PANEL
Jack and Jim lived in a very tig and old mansion. One day their mother went out, and the two boys were left alone. '' Let's go and explore, '' said Jim. ."Very well," said Jack, so off they went. First fhej came to a room filled with lumber; then they came to a dark cellar. Jim Btruck a match, blit as he -went forward his foot caught in an iron girdle.; Jim went sprawling, his head struck the panel and went right through it. The boys were sutprised. Jack spoke first. "Let's go in," said he. They were in the panel in two seconds. There were boxes all ronnd. Jim opened one to find that it was filled with gold. The two boys ran out, and met mother on the way back. They told her all about it, and all their fortunes were made by Jim's and Jack's exploring. JOHN DOYLE (10). Petone. ]
