THE FAIRY QUEEN'S WEEDING
All Fairyland folk were sleeping in honey-scented bells of the flowers, and the bees were droning drowsily to their hives. .
The sun dipped in splendour to a rosy bed in the mist-tipped mountains far away. A last faint ray touched the Queen's household, and with a start the fairies woke tip. Everybody was hustling, bustling, about to get dressed ready for a trip to Elfland. ' . The Queen's maids dressed _ their Queen in a gown of morning mist, a mantle of moonbeams, and on her head a crown of sunset jewels. Presently she set off in a glittering carriage drawn by two magnificent butterflies, s Her attendants came behind on smaller butterfly babies. Their destination was the Elf King s palace. It was a gorgeous place lit up by innumerable glow worms. To this was the Queen bound. The King of Elves was going to propose to her tonight, and, as he was a very important person Si Fairyland, he was not to be ignored. was waiting there when she alighted.from her.carriage, and, as she had -never seen tim before she thought was a handsome man lie was, and fell in love with him instantly. • He proposed and she accepted. The -wedding was wonderful. The Queen was dressed in a gown of pearls. She had little silver slippers on her dainty feet. Oh her head was a coronet of pearls. ■ The King was dressed in velvets of all colours./ His crown was made of diamonds. .-' f' .-vj The fairies danced, till their feet weresore and still they went on dancing. Supper was laid on toadstools on the lawn. There was honey, dew, teardrop icecream, and all sorts of delicious things. I know, for I was there! "GINGEB B."
