FLYING SWIFT JUMPS WELL

At Wangauui on Saturday morning Sandy Acre was given a good working gallop of once round, finishing up fast. This gelding is in good fettle and is hitting out well. \ ; Valma was schooled over sis hurdles, "jumping very well, though she clouted a couple of obstacles. ,' ; Flying Swift, who claims engagements jit the Hawkes Bay meetings, ridden by "W. Kowhatu, who also claims' engagements at the Hawkes Bay and Napier Park meetings, was given a couple of rounds on the plough. The Quarantine gelding looks in good \ shape and should run prominently in his events. Arisus, Paleta, and .Pedestal were companions in a half-mile gallop. Pedestal jumped away with a slight lead, but the other pair were with him after going a couple of furlongs. Arisus had his neck in front of Paleta at the finish, with Pedestal close up, the time being 50 1-5 sec. Paleta is engaged in the Flying •Handicap at the Hunt Club Meeting, and Arisus and Pedestal will probably both he seen out. at the Wellington Meeting next month; M. Gardner gave his team, including Gilgai, Star Area, Jrist an Idea, Fernden, Maiigaharei, and Danny Boy, good pace work. ■' ' ■■■••,
