REPORT CONTRADICTED

EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE AT FIJI Tho Press Association has received the following unsigned message fromSuva: — ! . ■ "The Oceanic Press last night broadcasted tho following statement: 'The Fiji Islands were severely shaken by an earthquake at noon to-day. The mission schooner, the dismasted auxiliary schooner Veilomani, foundered, and tho schooner Motau was damaged. It was the most severe shock sinco 1913. This report is absolutely misleading. The earthquake yesterday did no damage. The auxiliary mission schooner Veilomani was dismasted earlier in the morning, owing a rotten mast, in a squall, and did .not founder. The schooner Motau was stranded on a reef three weeks ago. Tho earthquake lasted for 20 seconds. Please correct the mis-statement. "
