SUPERINTENDENT'S KEPORT

In his annual report, the Medical Superintendent of the Wellington Hospital (Mr.; H. B. Ewen) recommends the appointment of an assistant pathologist, the worlt of the laboratory having increased so largely as td necessitate such an appointment. v , Dr. Ewen stages that the Medical Sup 7 erintendent of the Porirua Mental Hospital, or his deputy, has been in attendance at the Wellington Hospital regularly throughout the year at the psychiatric clinic which is held on two afternoons a week. There, have-been 1002 attendances as compared with 657 during the previous year. There has been a marked decrease in the demand for accommodation at the fever hospital, the recent scarlet fever epidemic having died down. At present tho averago number of such cases under treatment is about 30. The diphtheritic isolation block was crowded during the, epidemic period.
