TWO FIRES

A light thrown down in the. course'of" papering wort, was tho cause of the Fire Brigade being called out to a lire in a house, at present unoccupied, at 2, Mitchell street, Brooklyn, at 11.39 last night. The house, of seven rooms, was a wooden building of one floor and a basement. Damage was done to the dining-room at tho rear of the premises by fire, and water and cutting away. The house is owned by Albert Henry Green, of 29, Mitchell street, Brooklyn. The insurance on the contents is £250 in the Standard Office and the building is covered in the Tfnited Office for £1350. ' .■ .. . ■ ■ A motor-lorry owned by William Birkett, of Karori, was severely damaged by fire and water on the Queen's Drive at 12.46 a.m. The vapour of petrol was ignited by a naked light. The lorry was uninsured.
