EEMAND FOR SENTENCE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, 27th May

Pleading' guilty to four charges in volving breaking, entering, and theft, 'the use of explosives, forgery of a cheque, and obtaining a ear by false pretences, Robert Harvey Campbell was to-day remanded for sentence by Mr. Justice Blair. The charges were as follow: — Theft of a wallet containing an annual section railway ticket, a letter of credit for £200, tickets for the Cosmopolitan Club, and cheque book on the Bank of New Zealand, the property of Robert M'Millan,, of a total value of £130; the forgery of a cheque for £o, purporting to be signed by Robert M'Millan; breaking and entering by night the counting-house of the New j Plymouth Harbour Board, and the theft of 3G penny stamps and a coat valuecr at 355; at Stratford, breaking and entering by night the shop of Masters, Ltd., and stealing a cheque for £20, and about £100 in money, a bicycle, and a tin of sardines, of a total value of £123; and the theft of a rain-' coat valued at £5 Is; at New Ply ; mouth obtaining from Edward Cawtliray a ear, valued at £100, by means of a false pretence by representing that he' was a farmer living in Danucvirke with a farm at Tahoraite and an account at, the Bank of New Zealand at Dannevirke.

There were eleven charges altogether, but the remainder were in the nature of, "alternatives," and to them pleas of: not guilty were entered Ly. Campbell who was not represented by counsel. ~ . .

Upon his. Honour's advice, Hie Crown Prosecutor accepted the ' picas and withdrew the other counts.
