ROTARY CLUE CABARET

A. SUCCESSFUL EVENING

The large tea room and ' Jacobean Boom at Kirkcal.dic 's last night were the scene of a highly successful party arranged by the Wellington BoUiry Club, with an attendance of from three to four hundred guests. Tho rooms and entrances were arranged with .great stands of flowers, hydrangeas in' their winter colouring being most effective, as well as palms and other pot plants, with flags and greenery. The dancing floor was in good order, and round the large room were many tables, arranged cabaret fashion, at which cool'drinks, ices, and sweets were to be had. The lounge was filled with comfortablo chairs and sofas, and there the guests; either played cards, or sat and chatted and watched the dancers. The supper was served in the Jacobean Room, where there were many tables round the sides, with long ones down the centre, the tables being centred with vases of gold and brown chrysanthemums. The former lounge was also used for supper, so numerous were the guests. Messrs. Albert Eussell and "W. J. M'Gowan were M.C.'s and were excellent in their coffrts to keep everything going with a swing. There ft wore a number of novelty dances, \ and the bright music was a feature of the evening. Just before supper favours -were handed round, pretty little fans for the ladies, while the menkind had "joker" buttonholes, which caused much amusement. Then bright caps were donned, and,speakers and rattles and various other noise makers were, in evidence after supper, adding much to the noise of tho party, even if they did not "tuno in" with tho musics

Ilott,1 the latter wearing black lame,, with 'a handsome overdress of gold and black embroidery; Mrs. Albert Russell, in a gown of paje rose pink lumc ~ with touches of gold, and a shoulder posy of violets; Mrs. M'Go wan, black and gold embossed frock; Mrs. S. Kirkcaldie, smoke blue chiffon, with touches ofgold and black, and a long cloak to tone; Mrs. Whyte, black georgette and lace; Miss Buckeridgc, pale green taffetas, with silver embroidery; Mrs. Goldsmith, pink cliarmeuso and georgette; Mrs. W. B. I)avidson, blue chiffon; Mrs. Paish, Mr. and Airs, liambic, Mr. and Mrs. Clinkard, Mr. and Mrs. Longuet '(the latter in pale blue crepe de chine), Mrs. Keith Kirkcaldie (mauve chiffon), Dr. and Mrs. Bowerbank (the latter in blue embroidered frock), Mr. and Mrs. E. Salmond (the latter in red patterned chiffon), Mr. and Mrs. Longmore (the latter in whic-colourod lace), Miss Helen Whyto (green and cream embossed frock, gold bridge coat), Mrs. 11. Brown (black chiffon and lace), Mr. and Mrs. Hay, Mr. and Mrs. O'Sullivan, Mr./ and Mrs. J. T. Martin (tho latter in cream, green and black patterned chiffon), Mr. and Mi's. S. Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Springhal), Mr. and Miss i'urkort, Mr. and Mvs. Mander (Lower Hutt), Miss Bristow (red .velvet), Mrs. Amos (black lace with coloured French flowers appliqued), My. and Mrs. C. J. B. Norwood (the latter in black georgette jetted, and with spangled coatee), Miss Edna Norwood (white chiffon and lace), Mr. ana Mrs. La Trobe, Mr. and Mrs. Hislop, Dr. and Mrs. Gibbs (the latter in blue chiffon velvet), Mr. and Mrs. L.
