NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETS

The council of the Ne>v Zealand Football Association met 'last' evening, Mr.. B, L. Salmon presiding. , ,

The following dates for Chatham Cup games were submitted by the competitions committee and adopted:—2Bth June, Wanganui final, ■ 'at* Wanganui; 19th July, Wanganui v. Manaivatuj 19th July, local finalists-to be'found in Auckland, Welling- j ton,' Canterbury," and Otago;',26th July, winners of Manawatu-Wanganui v. Wellington; 2nd August, winners of last-men-j tioned -V. Auckland finalists, at Auckland; 16th August, Canterbury V; Otago; fltlii September, final at Wellington. ;■ If;was] reported by tho committee that consider-j able difficulty had been experienced in fixr ing. suitable dates owing to the large number of counter-attractions arranged in the four centres. Association wrote, stating that it was intended that the preliminary Chatham Cup games should be played on Wednesday evenings. Tramways team.was due to play on 28th May (to-night), and, though agreeing to- play, had protested against night matches. The .Auckland As-. sociation asked whether the council considered matches should not be played / at night. The council decided that it would reply that it liad'no objection to matches fieiu^ played at night in.the meantime, and that the question of dealing with the matter by. r.ule^ be deferred till next annual meeting..
