EXPENSIVE SLIPS
Reference to the expense incurred by the county owing to slips was mentioned by Mr. D. B. Hoggard- (chairman) at to-day's annual meeting of the Hutt County Council. He said that during the year another large slip had occurred'in the Taita Gorge in ihe same locality as the previous la»go slip, aixi the work of removal was carried out by the tublic Works Department, the county contributing £.410. Other extensive wash-outs had taken place at AVaimii-o-matfi and at Pukerua Bay. Thoslip at Pukerua Bay was estimated to cost £600 to remove—a sum nearly four times the rates from the distriefcj ,■ ;' .
