SENTENCES ON LEADERS
CALCUTTA, 24th May. N Mrs. Naidu has been sentenced to nine months' simple -imprisonment and Gandhi's sou to one year's rigorous imprisonment, i The salt war at Dharasatea mines for the time being is over. There are only about eighty volunteers left in camp. Two big football matches in Calcutta to-day could not be played. Thousands of people packed the grounds to witness the game, Calcutta against Mohun Bagari and Dalhousie against Aryans, The teams were preparing ■ when lorry loads of women arrive!. All lay down in front of the tents, preventing the players' egress. This curious action was rii retaliation for Mrs. Haidu's imprisonment. '■ . '.'\ Serious rioting between Hindus and Moslems brake out yesterday in Dacca, East Bengal. Over 100 were injured. The tension which has existed between the two communities since Thursday assumed a violent character when a Moslem . was found dead in the street. His coreligionists attacked the Hindus fiercely, and burned their temples nd looted several shops and houses.
