Hufct and Brooklyn, playing on the Lower Hutt Recreation Ground, both went in for jbrisk. scoring, the game going to Hutt by I five goals to i'our. . The teams were:— Hutt.—Webster; Chapman, Gardiner; Lands, M'Dougall, M'Gloy; Stobbs, Jessop, Bvown, Cnuulwell, Bachelor. Brooklyn.—Archer; Hendry, Suttbn; Hughes, Hanson, Upchurch; Middleton, Brown, Auton, W. Hughes,- Jones. Mr. A. Heskett was referee. The southerly wind was.a big factor in the game, and Brooklyn had things much their own way..for the first spell, Hutt being seldom able to take play against the wind; in the second spell Brooklyn found themselves fighting the same handicap. Brown and Auton shared Brooklyn's first goal, the ball going through from a goal-mouth scramble. Middleton added their second and third. Stobbs bustled the ball past Archer very much as Brooklyn's opening goal had been scored. .The score at half-time was: Brooklyn, 3; Hutt, 1. ' : .

Brooklyn werej kept on the defensive during practically the.whole of the second spell. Stobbs put in-a nice shot from near the line, and Crundwell, working well with Bachelor, evened the scores.
