Some time ago the sausage makers in Frankfurt protested against inferior sausages not made in the city being called Frankfurt sausages. The Court of Appeals in Berlin has now sustained the decision of the Trial Court that only sausages made in Frankfurt may bear the name.
According to Lord Melchett, in the last 30 years Britain's expenditure on social services has risen from 14s a head of the population to £8 Cs, while the cost of the services has increased from £22,000,----000 a year to £366,000,000. Out _of the present total expenditure on social services the taxpayers provide about £177,----000,000; £89,000,000 comes from the rates.
