WAS IT AN EARTHQUAKE ?

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHEISTCHUECH, This Day. Three-quarters of the heavy cross of Mount Somers stone on the peak of tho southern transept of the Cathedral crashed to the ground at 4.30 p.m. yesterday and broke into three pieces. The stono had liecouio discoloured with ago and the effects of weather. Observatory officials state that there was no record of an earthquake, however slight, at or about 4.30 p.m.
