OVER CAPE VERDE
HALFWAY ON VOYAGE
MESSAGE FROM ECKENER

ST. VINCENT, 21st May.
The Graf Zeppelin passed over Sal, tho north-easterii island of the .Cape Verde group, at 11.30 this morning, New York time. The.airship had covered approximately .half the distance from Seville to Pernambuco, leaving less than 2000 miles to go.
A radiogram sent by Captain Eckener at "7 in the morning, New York time, reported that the trade winds upon which tho airship was depending for aid seemed "to be suffering from old age." The airship was then approaching Cape Verde islands.
Captain Eckener , radioed Recife', Brazil, which is Pernambuco's seaport, to say that ho expects to arrive 'there at 6 a.m. on Thursday. He will (halt four hours before proceeding to Rio de Janeiro. «.
