SWEARING IN NEW LEADER

After the new leader has been selected, it is expected that evpnts will move rapidly. • ! It is unlikely that Sir Joseph Ward will long delay the. tendering" of his resignation, and the Governor-General will probably immediately call on the chosen, successor to form a Cabinet. His Excellency is at present at Auckland, and according to- the- arranged programme he is riot due to return to Wellington for some weeks. It is probable, therefore, that the newly-chosen leader will journey to Auckland when he is summoned .by His Excellency. On the other hand, His Excellency may set aside his arrangements for a. day or so, if necessary, in order to more conveniently carry out the formalities in Wellington.
