The executive or1 the Otago-Soutliland section of the UnitccV Political Party has adopted a minute regretting the retirement of Sir., Joseph Ward from the Prime Ministership

After paying ■■ a ' tribute to Sir Joseph's gifts and his grasp.of finance, the minute concludes:—

"The United Party executive in Dunedln, representative of the whole of Otago and Southland, wishes to place on record its appreciation of his conspicuous and distinguished service, and hopes that he. will stay in the Ministry (without portfolio if need be) to guide the deliberations of. the party which stauds for the furtherance of the welfare of the whole of the people and of no particular class of section thereof. May his health be restored during his retirement."
