CHANGEABLE WEATHER
AN IMPROVEMENT LATER
The depression, which was crossing tho Dominion yesterday, intensified last night, and as a result westerly and south-westerly winds have prevailed, which have freshened,/ moro especially around Cook Strait/, and southwards. The "depression has also caused scattered rain since last night in the westerly districts/ as well as in Otago. The .fall has boon chiefly light, but at Okma 58 points were recorded.' Thore were also heavy falls abou^ Foyeaux Strait. .At 9 a.m. to-day rain was reported at Kaikoura, but generally fair weather has prevailed in the eastern provinces.
Auckland enjoyed a sunny fine day yesterday, with light southerly winds. Wellington experienced cloudy conditions, a light northerly wind prevailing, which freshened last night and this morning a change to the south took place. Christchurch had a fairly sunny day, but the weather became cooler and later boisterous, and westerly winds came up. Yesterday morning in Dunedin was pleasant, but in the afternoon it clouded over, and during the night a moderate rain fell, accompanied by a south-west wind.
The forecast is for moderate to strong south-west winds, veering to the cast again, and later to the south. t Thc weather will bo cool and changeable, with scattered showers, but later improving.
