W.E.A. MOVEMENT

The Senate of the New Zealand University yesterday passed a resolution, on the motion oE Mi1. W. J. Worrell, expressing "its sense of the valuable work done in connection with the Workers'1 Educational Association classes, and of the great promise shown by all its activities." The success o£ the movement, said Mr. Morroll, was not only shown by the increased number of monitors, but the wide scopo of the movement was significant of the vivid and forcible life of the organisation. He was confident that the activities of the association deserved the cordial endorsement of the Senate. As stated in the report, "the residents of the rural areas forming a large proportion o£ the people should not be omitted from the W.K.A. scheme. It is therefore the duty of the Government and local bodiea to render such assistance to this movement that all citizens living in the country districts should have access to educational influences .which avouUl make their lives richer and happier, and assist them to perform adequately their responsibilities in a democratic country."

In seconding the motion, Sir Georgo Fowlds said tliiit lite had been closely associated with the classes pince their inauguration. He had noticed the development and progress of the movement with delight, and -had seen the very valuable changes which had taken place in the tone of the organisation.
