(Keceived 19th May, 2 p.m.)

LONDON, 18th May. On the eve of the first National Safety Week to be held throughout Britain the toll of the roads at the week-end was one of the heaviest recorded The fatalities include a husband, wife, three-year-old son, and wife's mother, all killed when their car skidded and collided with an empty bus near Wakefleld. In another crash at Wolverhampton a father and mother were killed and two children, injured when a motor-cycle and sidecar overturned.

Women motorists have thoroughly vindicated themselves as the result of the first motor trial for women only, London to Land's End. Out of thirtyfour starters only eleven failed to negotiate the famous test hills in Devonshire and Cornwall, where many experienced men drivers come to grief.
