BOXING
MONDAY'S TOURNAMENT.
That the sport. of boxing continues to hold its own in public favour is evidenced by the keen demand.for seats for next Monday's tournament, which opens the season proper of the Wellington Association. For the most part, last season a principal contests were between light contestants, and a change to heavier men in Hancock and Trowern will doubtless J>e welcomed. The Australian has been seen, in training during the past ten days, and he fully justified his record of being * fighter rather than a boxer. Trowern ha« always been a popular favourite /vnta Wellington audiences, and his supporters are confident that he will be able to d.c? monstrate that the Dunedin decision ia favour of Hancock was all wrong. Four amateur preliminaries will be staged, ana in each some good work should be.seen. Intending patrons who have not as yet secured their seats will be weir advised to do so before the plan closes ott Moo. day afternoon. Early door tickets art also available at the box office.
