COMMENTS OF EXAMINERS
Some interesting comments by examiners in England, on. the expiration of their term of office, on the work' of N6w Zealand students was read at.the meeting of the Senate of the University to-day. ..'■■-.; N Professor Clark, of Oxford, wrote:-— '.'I should, like to say that I always found' the work very interesting, since the candidates were obviously keenj and generally reached a good level of performance,, while some did. excellently. My impression is that the standard of classics iii New Zealand is unusually high." . . Professor Grant, of- Leeds, examiner in history, said:—"l shall not fail-on all suitable occasions to express my admiration for the work that the New Zealand University does, and the high standards reached iE the graduation examinations."
In his letter Professor Baker, of Sheffield, examiner iii French, said: —"During the whole of my term of office I was filled with admiration for the good work of my unknown colleagues in a language and literature which for most of their students must be something very distant and remote." .
