Several extraordinary examples of the vagaries of Austrian justice were furnished in a recent week in the Vienna Courts. While Karl Luksch, who shot his wife in front of their. six-year-old child because she •, threatened to desert him, was sentenced to a fine of only 15s, with the alternative of. three days' imprisonment; the latter penalty,,withoutthe option of a'fine,! was imposed on Madame Cornelia for the offence of "wounding official honour." Madame Cornelia put out'her tongue at a ticket-collector on the Vienna "underground." A ticket-collector is entitled, by virtue of his office, to the special protection given to the "honour •of officials," . .
