TOUR OF AUSTRALIA
The proposed Australian tour by a New Zealand school-boys' Association football side was again discussed by the New Zealand Football Association last evening.
\Mr. R. Harrison,'selector and manager of the team, who, has seen two trial gampsv-jin Wellington^said-that%e:hoped to see a trial game at Christchurch, provided the South Island associations would assemble representatives.,
• It was reported that South Island, associations had been communicated with,' and ho reply had been, received. . : Mr. F. Campbell suggested that if the South Island did not nominate representatives the team would have-to be selected from the North Island.. ' ' '; : . : :
Mr. Harrison replied: that he could get a strong team from the North Island; though he Would-prefer, it-to be representative of both islands. : ' ■•'.:■'.'..,
Mr.' Campbell "said that,the cost would be £20 per boy, and the money would have to be guaranteed by .the associations or parents, and paid in\before the tout;, The_manager and assistant-manager would each' pay £10 towards his expenses. The team-would, be assembled in Wellington a week before sailing, in order to, undergo training. ' The Auckland Association, said Mr; Harrison, would to prepared to find nine or ten boys if required. ... . '; ;■ Mr. Campbell said there would be no difficulty in getting Wellington boys. It might be possible to-get one or two from the Manawatu. It was felt that in. certain cases the parents would; find the whole or part, of the expenses for such an educational tour, .for then- boysi ■ ■ Mr. Harrison was •, asked to complete the selection of-the team by 10th June. It was decided to send the following cablegram to the Australian Football Association:—"New' Zealand desires schoolboy tour. All arrangements completed, subject your ■ guarantee good matches, proper supervision, and < successful tour. Dates early August as previously arranged.
