Private advices supplementary to the above dispatch, all dated London 13th May, have been received as follows:— , The Bank of New Zealand Produce'Department.—The sales have opened • with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. There is an active demand by all branches-of the trade. Compared with last sales, all kinds of greasy crossbreds are Id dearer. Greasy merino was not represented. .'■".'. " !,-•.- COMPETITION KEEN. Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd. —The auctions opened here to-day with a large attendance of buyers. Competition is keen. As compared with the closing rates of last sales, we quote: Greasy merino, best Id, per lb dearer; average, fine halfbreds 50 to 56's, halfbreds 48 to 50's, fine crossbfeds 46 to 48's, medium 44 to 46's, coarse 40to 44's, low 36 to 40's, all Id per pound dearer; scoured merinos, 5 per cent, higher; scoured crossbreds, 10 per cent, higher; slipe, lambs 5 per cent, higher, sheep 10 per cent, higher. OPENED WITH GOOD TONE. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd.— Sales have opened with a good tone; large attendance of buyers; competition keeu; all sections operating freely. ' Compared ■with last London sale's closing rates: Greasy merino advanced.s to 7% per cent., scoured merino advanced 5 per cent.; crossbred, greasy, fine, and medium, advanced 7Va per cent.; crossbred, greasy, coarse, advanced 7Vz per cent:: to 10 per cent.; crossbred pieces greasy and crossbred scoured advanced 10 per cent.; slipe crossbred advanced 5 per cent, to 10 per cent. : : ANIMATED COMPETITION.
