LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY
NEW .OFFICERS ELECTED'
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") ■ '.. ' ' AUCKLAND, This Day. A curious position which.had existed in Auckland, thoj head centre of, the Royal Lifp-Saving Society; was righted at a meeting last night by the election of a now. chairman and secretary-trea-surer. Mr. William Taylor, formerly deputy-president of tho Mafauui. Lifesaving Club, Wellington, and Mr. T. Langle}', of. North Shore Swimming Club, were elected unopposed to the respective positions. Their election, however, is subject to confirmation at the general meeting. . ;
Thp position which warranted this action was caused by the resignation of Dr. Harold Pettit, the former chairman, and .Mr. Stewart, formerly secre-tary-treasurer. They, had . resigned after an adverse' vote concerning ' the proposed holding of an ' art union. Since then the. society in Auckland has theoretically, not existed, and a meeting was called last night to get' things going once again.
