, HOTEL LICENSEE PINED

Some time ago when police- officers paid a visit to the Princess Hotel they found, there, two men who, failing to give a satisfactory explanation, were subsequently fined for being on licensed premises. There was a sequel in the Magistrate's Court to-day when the licensee, James Elleray, was charged with aiding and abetting in tho commission of the. offence of being on licensed premises after hours. lie was represented by Mr. A. C. Wircn, and pleaded not guilty.

After hearing tho evidence and counsel's submissions, Mr. E. Page, S.M., said it was clear that the licensee know the men were there, and that they were unlawfully there, and he thought thefacts showed that tho licensee was a party to the offence. Elleray was convicted and fined &2 and- the' costs.
