THE SIMON REPORT
EARLY PUBLICATION URGED ■ ' LONDON, 17th April. In the House of Commons on a motion for adjournment.until 29th April, Mr. Tenner Brockway (Lab.) urged the speeding up of the publication of the Simon Eeport on India and a' declaration by tho Government of its intention to carry out the policy of; self-government and Dominion status. Lieutenant-Commander Kenworthy said that all that could at present be done was to support" the Government in India. Steps had been taken, to preserve peace. They must not be stampeded into panic action. Mr. G. Lansbury, in the absence .of Captain "Wedgwood Benn at the Egyptian conference, said the situation in India was most difficult. Captain Wedgwood Benn and the Viceroy would do their utmost to secure a settlement. It is understood that in view of the situation' in India the Simon Commission is expediting the Eeport, which is most likely to be unanimous, enabling political parties to unite in backing the recommendations.
