"POPPY DAY"
A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL "Poppy Day," which was hold on Thursday, proved to be a very successful effort.. From early morning the workers were abroad, and. it was noticable that very few persons were not .displaying the well: .known emblem. With the amount already in hand, and returns to come from other centres in the vicinity of the city, it is certain that last year's ; total will'be exceeded. The Wellington: Ketufned Soldiers' Association, is very grateful, to the ladiqs who worked so hard to make Poppy Day a success, and the funds realised will help very materially to provide work for unemployed ex-soldiers during the winter months. The following are the results available. A complete list will be published when all returns are to hand:— , '..'■„ \ ■ - \ ■ -..£■■ s (1 ■ Qulnton's Corner (Mrs. Blakley) Vs(i 4 OVi Lindsey's Corner (Mrs. Palmer).. 4S 4 10 G.P.
