TARDIEU DELAYED
BRIAND ON THE SPOT
TALK WITH HENDERSON
British Official Wireless. (Received 7th March, 11 a.m.) EUGBY, 6th March. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Henderson had a conversation to-night with M. Briand immediately on the latter's return to London. M. Briand is head of the French delegation in tho absence of M. Tardieu,":who is postponing his arrival in London in order to visit the flooded areas in: Southern France. To-morrow the full work of the Conference will be resumed with a meeting in tho morning of delegation chiefs. This afternoon the Experts Sub-Com-mittee continued ■ its discussion upon submarine questions with particular reference to the individual unit. It is understood that the British view, which is shared by American and Italian experts, favours a maximum tonnage for individual craft of 1800, which is the figure upon which a provisional agreement was reached at the Geneva Three Power Naval Conference, in 1927. Japanese experts favoured a maximum figure of 2000 tons, while the French, it is understood, advocated a maximum of 3000 tons. The discussion ranged about these figures and will be continued at a further meeting. '
