AT BULLS

FRASER MEMORIAL TO PAITONU

. EQUITANT TONS HACK'CUP . (By Telegraph.) (Specia|,to "The Evening Post.") • •■■" BULLS, 6th March. The Kangitikei Racing Club's Annual Meeting'concluded to-day in fine weather, there being a 'good attendance. The track was hard ,but fast. Though fields were small in the majority of the events, speculation held up fairly well, and the total for the day was £10,404, compared with £11,864 on the concluding day of the 1929 meeting. , The turnover for the fixture was £23,551,- compared with £25,385 for last year's ~ gathering; W. Broughton, rider^of Equitant in the President's Hack Cup, was suspended for fourteen days for crossing Glenrossie at the turn; SANSON HACK HURDLES. Whenuanui was at a short price for the Sanson Hack' Hurdles, "Royal Acre being the only other seriously considered, though there was some money for Kowhatu, who showed good form on the opening day. Four Aces, Red Lane, Whenuanui, and First "Ruler''led "Copey and Royal Acre a.t the first..fence, and past the stands I 1 our Aces' was showing the way to Whenuanui, Red :Lane, Royal Acre, and Copey. Rouex-made a forward move running for the back stretch, where she actually headed Four Aces, with Red Lane, Whenuanui, Copey," and Royal Acre nest." At the half-mile 'Rouex and Four Aces were two lengths ahead ;of Whenuanui, with Red Lane, Kowhatu, and Royal Acre bunched. Whenuanui turned for home clear of Rouex, ■ with Kowhatu and Royal Acre coming fast. The favourite was not troubled in .the run home, and won comfortably by two lengths. Kowhatu managed to hold off Royal Acre by half a length for second place, and First Ruler, Red Lane, and Copey followed. MAIDEN HANDICAP. The money, .was. right'for Golden Flower, Kali, and Win Acre'in the Maiden (Handicap, ivitlrLady Lucerne at a.good price. Lady/Lucerne., was . first out from Win Acre, Kali;' Golden Flower, 'arid Moatoa, and. three furlongs from home was a couple of lengths clear of Win, Acre, who was a similar distance ahead of.Kali, with Golden' Flower, Moatoa, and ' Pont dOr close;■ up. "Lady Lucerne turned for home ahead- of Golden Flower, Win Acre, Moatoa, and Pont dOr, and came on to score with ease by-four .lengths from Golden Floweiv Two lengths behind the second horse Win.'Acre appeared to secure third place,: but the judge declared for Moatoa, withy. Pont dOr fourth and Kali and Gowanlea near. .■■.;.' FRASER MEMORIAL, Manly : was scratched for the Eraser Memorialand Paitonu was a little better backed than; Ruanui, with Ballo.on also supported., Ruanui showed the Vay out of the. straight'to Paitonu, Opa, Avro, and Balloon, and into the' back stretch he was followed by Paitonu: Avro, and Opa, with Balloon and Briar Root next. Discourse made a forward move along the back, being up with Paitonu behind Ruanui at the half-mile, where Briar Root and_ Avro were next. Racing, for the straight, Ruanui, Paitonu, and Briar Root were together, Discourse -having- dropped back to Avro and Balloon, and once they straightened up Paitonu and Ruanui drew away to stage a great tussle over the last bit, Paitonu just getting home by a head. Two lengths away Balloon, Avro, Briar Root, and Discourse finished in a bunch. RANGITOTO HANDICAP. A short price was obtained by supporters of Tenacre in the Rangitoto Hack Handicap, while Patearoa was a good second choice. The field raced in line for a couple of furlongs, and then Tenacre went to the front from Patearoa, Arrow Boy, and Kentish Lad. Across the top Tenacre, Arrow Boy, Leisure, Hymestrason, and Patearoa was the order, and they turned for home in much the same order, save that Patearoa improved his posiiion and Kentish Lad was running wide. Once the judge was sighted Tenacre came en to 'j win with ease by two lengths, Patearoa/being a similar distance ahead of Kentish JJad. Leisure was fourth and Arrow Boy next to finish. BAILEY;' HANDICAP. Four runners paraded for the Bailey Handicap, the orien sprint, and Dobbin was preferred to , Broad Acre, with good support for Acora. The quartet were 'bunched for soihe distance, and then Te Atiawa went out in front of Acora, Broad Acre, and Dobbin. Acora and Te Atiawa were clear from Dobbin (on the rails) and Brpad Acre across the top and into the straight/ where Dobbin failed to get through. Once straightened up, Acora obtained, ,'an advantage and held it to the judge, being a bare half-length to the good at the post. Dobbin, finishing fast, beat Broad Acre, by a length for second place. ;... •'. y ' PRESIDENT'S HACK CUP. The large field of fourteen lined up for the President's Hack Cup, Latakia being preferred to: Glenros6ie and Equitant, while Airforce was rather neglected. Tentcall and Equitant got away badly after a long delay* Monolof showing the way to Glenrossie, i.Airforce, Latakia, and Auctioneer. Eqjiitant soon made a forward move, and after going a couple of furlongs she was in behind Monolof, Glenrossie, and Airforce. Racing for the three furlongs Monolof was barely in front of Equitant,1 with Tentcall. Airforce, Glenrossie, Latakia,. and Auctioneer following, and the order was unchanged as they turned into the straight. Airforce challenged in the run home, but Equitant, who had taken the lead from Monolof, held

her own to win nicely by a neck from Airforce, who >vas a length in front of Glenrosaie. Monolof was fourth, just ahead of Auctioneer, with Latakia, Aurora Borealis, Democratic, and Wai'fille following in that order. KILLEYMOON HANDICAP. Another fou'r-hqree field contested the Killeymoon Handicap, but this time the public were right in selecting Callanmore, though good .support for High Falutin' and the other pair caused the favourite to return a great .■price. Callanmore was quickest out from the barrier, and showed the way over the greater part of the journey to. Rame.ses, Manly, and High Falutin'. There was no relative change when they straightened up, and in an interesting finish Callanmore retained his advantage to win by a neck from Ramcses, who was a length Yin front of High Falutin', with "a couple of lengths back to Manly. .;, '.. FAREWELL HANDICAP. Tenacre, rehandicapped 71b as a result of his win earlier/in the day, was favourite for the1 concluding event, the Farewell Hack Handicap, with Blue Paper and Quiriola best backed of the others, but 'Golden Flower surprised them all. He Whahga and Grand Jury dwelt, Tenacre going out in iron of Blue Paper and Quinola. Across the top Tenacre and Blue Paper' were three lengths ahead of Quinola, Golden: Flower, and He Whanga,; with ..a'gap back to the other pair. 3jhe order was unchanged as they straightened up : .for. thei-un to the judge, but. then Golden. Flower commenced a run that overhauled Tenaere in the last couple of strides, the outsider paying the biggest •' price; of . the' day when she got home a head un .front of the favourite. Blue Paper was a length and a half away, 'clear of, Quinola and He Whanga. Results: — .'.'',;':; '••■ ■ . ' ■ Sanson Hack Hurdles, of 125 soys; one mile and a half.—l Whenuanui,. 11.9 (H.
