RED CROSS GARDEN" PETE
The final meeting of the Garden Fete Coinniitteo Set up by the Red Cross Society for the purpose of raising funds for the installation of wireless at the Ewart Hospital,. Was held at head^ quarters on Tuesday, Mr. F. Bennet, presiding. The chairman, on behalf of the mooting, welcomed Mr. M. 8. Galloway (secretary), Avho has been in hospital. ,'He congratulated those who had co-operated in bringing about the success of tho function, particularly mentioning all stall-holders and convenors. Each and all had worked with • commendable enthusiasm. In addition, numerous firms and private individuals had generously given their support. Special mention was mado of the good Work done by. the Toe H members in running the side-ShoWs. The treasurer's statement showed that the.net proceeds from the effort amounted to £119 10s 7d, to which was to be added iSS 12s 5d remaining from the previous appeal, giving a total of £128 OS.' -..:.. It. was hoped that the effort would have raised th-e full amount required, namely, £200. However, that the sum' realised fell short of tho sum required was due in no way to any lack of effort on the part of those concerned. It was decided that an appeal be made through the Press for donations to bo sent in and that lists be circulated. The balance required is £71 11s. Donations forwarded to the secretary, Red Cross Society, P.O. Box 9G9, and marked "Wireless Fund" will be gratefully acknowledged.
