Thacker, who presided, stated in reply to a question that on proper application a bandsman would be relieved of military drill. An effort, was- being made to obtain free travel.for bandsmen. It. was resolved that the next contest be at Wellington. Dr. Thacker was i'e-cleeted president. It was decided to ask the committee <to consider favourably the proposal for the board of trustees to raise a fund to bring-adjudicators out and retain them in New Zealand for six or j twelve : months1 to instruct.
