TROTTING

ADDINGTON MEETING

The Summer Meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club will be held to-morrow. This is the oft' meeting of the club and is practically a local function, but there is always a good attendance and usually it is highly interesting from a racing viewpoint. With one exception, the races havcj drawn capital fields and a good afternoon's sport seems assured. The'following is the programme:— SPUEYDON HANDICAP (harness), of 350 soys; 3.32 class; (trotters) i one niilo and a half Boaeta scr yds blid Mount Royal .. scr Ella Colo 21 yds blul Trampcrlsp .... 24 Admiral Bingcn .12 Young Carbluo .24 Dipnoi 12 : Audominion .... '13 Jock Blngcu ... 12 Duko Blngon .. 72 Kelson Atu 13 Koro Peter .., DO The mile and a 'half trotters' race has a field of twelve, with some fast horses nitrated. Bonclii' showed fair form at Wellington, but it, is doubtful if the disItuico is far onou«h for Jicr to show her hest, and Mount Koyal is too unreliable in liis gait. There are a smart lot on 12 yards, and Admiral Bingen, who has a jjood deal of speed, may beat the other three, as Dipnoi goes unsteadily, and Nelson Ata did not race well at Forbury Park. Jock Bingen. won at the last meeting on the course and was also successful at Wellington. . Etta Cole should beat Tramperisp and Young Carbine off the same mark, and the back-markers will need to go fast to have any chance with the front division. Admiral Bingen, Jock Bingen, and Etta Cole look likely to get the money. JUVENILE HANDICAP (harness), of 300 soys; 3.38 class; one mile and a half. Clnplium scr Lord Matchllght scr Desert Itey .... scr Pageant dOr .. scr Dillon Logan ... scr Sodium scr Dusolina .;... scr yds bhd Erin's Pointer .. scr Automatic .... 12 Flossie Harvester scr Iteylet 12 King's Cup .... scr Silverwood 12 Matchmaker scr The thre-year-old event as usual has a number of maiden performers engaged, some of whom can be expected to show smart) form. Of the fourteen acceptors, eleven are on the limit and a good beginning will play an important part in the result. Dusolina is an improving filly, but if Flossie Harvester races up to her best training track form she should go well. Sodium is a useful sort, but the pick of the handicap seems to be Automatic, who finished second to Brent Zolock at Wellington at the end of last month. Reylet is not racing well, but Silverwood showed some form at Timaru. It looks as though Automatic, Silverwood, and. Flossie .Harvester will catch tho judge's eye in that-order. MIDSUMMER HANDICAP (Harness), of 1000 soys; 4.30 class; two miles. Athalone scr yds bhd Harold Thorpe . scr Zenith 12 Jean M'Elwyu . scr Bonny Logan .. 24 Lindbergh .... scr Llnkman 24 Pluto scr Lou'an Chief ... 24 yds bhd ConcUEt 30 Billy Sea 12 Ring Pointer .. 36 Harvest Child .. 12 Wrackler .... 60 Tom Thumb ... 12 There is a strong field for the chief two mile event, which carries a good stake. Athalone raced consistently at Forbury Park, but he seems to be a trifle deficient in speed for the class at present. Harold Thorpe is a, recent winner on the course, and Jean M'Elwyn is so consistent that she seems certain to race well. Lindbergh is brilliant but a trifle erratic at the start, and Pluto is improving again after his brilliant showing last August. The limit division are a strong contingent. Billy Sea did not race well at Forbury Park, and Harvest Child will require to show improvement on his recent efforts to have a chance. Tom Thumb is not a solid stayer, but if the speed is slow over the first half of the journey ho may show up at the end. Zenith requires a race or two to bring her back to her best, and judged on recent form Linkman, Logan Chief, and King Pointer cannot have much chance. Concliff looks well and is sound again. Wrackler was going well on the first day at Forbury Park last week when he met trouble and lost his driver. 'He was not started on the second day. Lindbergh, Jean M'filwyn, Pluto, and Wrackler seem deserving of most support; .... . I'APAiVUI HANDICAP (harness), of 350 soys; 4.35 class; two miles. Great Logan ... scr ' ■ yds bhd Hector's Owa. .. scr l'arkwood .... 12 Neerson scr Avenger ....... 24 Sir Author scr Jolly Pot 24 StUnt Artist ... scr Omaha 24 yds bhd Trimmer 24 Arlkitoa 12 Lingfleld 38 Grand Light ... 12 Acre 48 The 4min "35sec, class may provido a good contest, but there are some horses in the field who are very unreliable over the distance. Of those oil the limit, Great Logan won over a mile and a quarter at Forbury Park last week, and proved that ho is in form. Hector's Own iB not a good stayer, but Neerson and Sir Author will not be troubled by the distance. Stunt Artist in a line stayer, but probably on the down grade. Great Logan, and Neerson read best oft' tho limit. Arikitoa and Grand Light should beat Parkwood on 12yds. Avenger is too uncertain, and Omaha ia not a good stayer, while Trimmer is very tricky in his races. Jolly Pet is in good form, and should beat the 24yds division. Lingfield is not racing well just now, but Acre, in his best form, has a chance from 48yds. Arikitoa, Great Logan, Neerson, arid Grand Light may finish in that order. CASHMERE HANDICAP (harness) of 450 sots; 4.41 class; trotters; two miles. Dipnoi scr yds blid Katulc scr Tonic 12 Lady Fan scr Bonnio Bclmont 24 Ukulelo Lady ..scr Leu Wood .... 3(5 - yds bhd Nlghboru 36 Cloumel 12 Sarsaparilla ... 36 Etta Cole ..... 12 John Mauritius .60 Proud Ata 12. Engagement ... CO The two-mile harness race for trotters should be one of the best contests of the day, as there are a lot of useful horses in the field. Lady Fan and 'Ukelele Lady may show improved form off the end of the handicap. Clonmel is too unsteady, but Etta Cole, on 12yds, may do better than in the shorter race earlier in the day. Proud Ata and Tonic are not improving, and Bonny Belmout is v very slow beginner. Len Wood will not be troubled by the distance, nor will Nighborn or Sarsaparilla, but if John Mauritius settles 'down early he seems the best of the back-markers. Etta Cole, if reserved for this event, may be successful, her hardest opponent being Ukelele Lady, John Mauritius, aiid Sarsuparilla. CHAMPION THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP (harness), of 000 soys; 3.31 class; one mile und a half. Real Huon ..... scr yds bhd yds bhd Nglngongingo .. 30 Royal Silk .... 12 John Jinks .... 60 The club hoped to make this event an attraction for the meeting, as it was placed on the programme in lieu of tho mile saddle event, but its enterprise has not been well supported by owners. There are some high-class .three-year-olds on this occasion, and a 3miu 31sec class was expected to attract tho best, but only four horses have paid up for the good stake, Real Huon showed some form as a two-year-old, and he is on the limit. Probably he will require some more racing before he is seen at his best this season, and Koyal Silk, on 12yds, should beat him. Ngingo Ngingo, who is on 36yds, has been somewhat unlucky iuhis classic efforts. He won a two-mile race at Wellington last mouth, and will probably be favourite. John Jinks, the two-year-old classic winner; has to give Ngingo Ngingo 2-Jyds, and he may find it hard to beat tho Matchlight colt. The finish should see Ngingo Ngingo win from Koyal Silk and John Jinks. UVEIIPOOL HANDICAP (harness), of 300 ■ soys; 4.40 class; two miles. Black Wattle ~ scr yds bhd Cyone icr Fair Wave 12 Erin's Lynn ... scr Kid Logan 12 Kreisler ..... scr Ricardo 12 Lough Neagh ... scr Cranlto City ... 24 Mac Dillon scr Warepa 24 Rolex scr Morning Sun .. 36 Shady Spot .... scr Key. Logan 36 yds bhd Sonoma i4B Avouwood 12 Wrackeen .... 60 The slow class two-mile event has eighteen acceptors, but there are several horses in the field who will be troubled by the distance. Shady Spot, who is on the limit, won at Forbury Park last week in 'Imin 39 3-ssec, and she will be the favourite pick for this event, as the, Sungod man; is ou the improve, and is a fine stayer. Cyoi'ie and Kreisler, on the same mark, look like giving her the most trouble. Avonwood is not a good stayer, but Fair Wave and Kid Logan, off 24yds. may race well. Morning Sun won fit Forbury Park, and he is improving, while further back, Sonoma, who is a good'

stayer, and Wrackccu may both race prominently. The places should be filled by Shady Spot, Morning Sun, and Sonoma. CRAVEN HANDICAP (harness), or 300 soys; 2.45 class; 0110 mile and a auartcr. Away scr . J'da bhd Harvest Child .. scr Linkman 12 St. Maura scr Vesuvius 12 Talent scr Bcsslo Logan ... 21 yds bhd Bonny Logan ... 24 Billy Sea 12 Kingcraft 24 Harold Thorpo .. 12 Tom Thumb ... 24 Kinc Pointer .. 12 There are some good sprinters in the mile and a quarter event. Talent,' on his showing at Forbury Park, when he was narrowly beaten by Great Logan, shou.' go well off the limit, and Vesuvius, on 12yds, may also race prominently. Bessie Logan put up a fine performance at Wellington last month, but there is a strong lot on 24yds, including Bonny Logan, Concliff, Kingcraft, and Tom Thumb.» The winner may come from the rear division on this occasion, with Bessie Logan, Tom Thumb, and Bonny Logan in the places. j
