CAPE TOWN, Ist February. The Prince of AVales contracted a cold on the journey to Johannesburg, but is much better.. After breakfast and a rest he played a round of golf at the Country Club with his equerry. It was deemed inadvisable that ho.should go down the Crown Mines,,as arranged1. The train stopped to allow a visit to tho battlefield .of Belmont, Magersfontein, and Modtler River. He visited ■the direct recovery process pulsator au.d the diamond-cutting factory at Kiuiberley. University girl students, desirous of , presenting a \bouquct at Johannesburg on behalf of fellow stu^ dents, were not aJlowcd by the police to approach the Prince, but a seven-year-old girl slipped through the cordon and offered a buttojiliqlc of carnations. The Prince shook the girl's hand warmly, and the- crowd chiecrcd loudly at tho courteous act. - ;
Tho Prince left in the evening, benefited by the invigorating air. lie arrives at Bulawayo on Monday morning. A golf nia'tch has been 'arranged, and he leaves at noon for Salisbury and Beira.
