MAINTENANCE CASES

Maintenance cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M. Leonard James Baylis, wl|o is £47 10s in arrears on au order made for the support of his wife, and £27 in case of his child, was sentenced to four months' imprisonment on each charge. He will be released on payment of the arrears. Sentences of one month's imprisonment each were imposed on Harry Wilson Davics and Albert Joseph Kelly, who are £2 and £5 15s respectively in arrears on orders made for the support of their wives. Each defendant will be released on payment of the arrears. A warrant was issued for the arrest of James Joseph Cronin, who is £41 in arrears on an order made in respect of his wife.

Richard Harrison, for being £3 5s in arrears on an order made for the support of his child, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, but he will be released on payment of the arrears, together with £1 Is solicitor's fee.
