SLUMP IN ATHLETICS
I am, etc., OLD TIMER.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Kindly allow me a little space toi reply to your correspondent, "Split Second," regarding slump in athletics. I appreciate "Split Second's" reply, but ha has strayed considerably, from the point, and for that reason I am making this letter very short. He mentions how well athletic meetings are run in Wellington —a point that I never mentioned, and am not disputing. He says the officials have only a slight interest in another form o£ sport. I am of opinion the public thinka differently. I would like "Split Second" to know that I have already been a member o£ the Petone Club, and am now with several others ex-members. . He says that the club will welcome all the/advice and help it can get. That statement I question. I thank those who have supported me in this argument, and 1 also accept "Split Second's" reply in the best of spirit.—
