GREETINGS TO BYRD
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "Tha Evening Post") DUNEDIN, Thia Day. "Commander Byrd, South Pole," is the address of a letter posted to-day by Mr. K. S. Black (Mayor of Dunedin) for carriage by the Eleanor -Boiling. "All the world," his Worship writes, "certainly rejoices with you on the wonderful oxploit so splendidly carried out.' As Mayor of Dunediu I convey my personal joy. The knowledge that you have discovered new lands, have circled tho South Pole, and have done all that you have without loss of life, adds to the admiration wo all have for your care, foresight, and courage.
"You N will be pleased to know," he continued, "that every member of your expedition remaining in Duuedin has gained the highest respect of tho citizens because of the exemplary conduct of one and all. We will miss their genial fellowship, but the Uuowlcdgo that their departure moans the early return of yourself and your expedition cheers us universally. We feel that the more tho citizens of tho British Empire meet tho citizens of your glorious country the sooner will all misunderstandings be removed and tho peace of the world assured."
