It was originally announced that Their Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and Lady Alice Fergusson would bo leaving Wellington by the Kangitata for England on Ist February. The date oS the departure of tho Eangitata has boon postponed until Bth February, and Their Excellencies will thus be another week in Now Zealand. The civic farewell by Wellington citizens has now been altered.to take place in the Town Hall on 6th February.

Sir Henry Holt, who has been touring New Zealand, leaves by the Maunganui. for Sydney on 17th January, en route to Egypt.

Mr. F. 6. Gibbs, of Nelson, is leaving New Zealand by the Tahiti in February for. a visit to America and England, and, intends to return via the Suez- Canal. He will be accompanied by his two sisters and Mrs. M'Ginnity.

Mr. O. C. Mazengarb will leave Wellington by the Maunganui on 14th February for Sydney, where, he is to join the Otranto on a tour-in Palestine and Europe. " . .

Mr. H.. E. ' Jenkins, M.P., who on Christmas Day was injured when jumping off a jetty into "a boat at Auckland, ia reported to be making satisfactory progress in the Auckland Hospital.

Mr. J. G. M'Kcnzie, director of reserves for the Wellington City Council, Mr. M. J. Bavnett, 'superintendent of reserves for the Christchurch City Council, and Mr. J. A. M'Pherson, superintendent of reserves, Invercargill, are at present in Napier for the purpose of attending- the conference of the New Zealand Park . Superintendents' Association, which opened yesterday.

Mr. Eric Eice, assistant secretary of the British Overseas League, who is at present concluding an official visit to Wellington, will hold an informal reception at the Midland Hotel on Friday next at 5 p.m., at which any members of the Overseas League and others interested in its development here will be welcome. Future activities of the Wellington branch will be discussed.

The death of Mr. Benjamin P. Gardiner, J.P., of Seatoun, was referred to at the quarterly meeting of the Board of Church Management of Taranaki street Methodist Church last evening. On the motion of the Eev. T. E. Richards, a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. Gardiner.

A large number of the parishioners of St. Thomas's Church met recently to show their appreciation of the good work accomplished for over twentyseven years by Mr. J. W. Salmon, who has been parishioners' churchwarden for all that time, and has continuously represented the parish at. Synod for the same period. A beautiful illuminated address, the work of Mr. Bock, was presented to Mr. Salmon, with sentiments expressed similar to those' recorded on the address. During Mr. Salmon's wardenship new buildings have been erected in brick for school and elubroom, and there have been a number of other improvements. Mr. Salmon has also been superintendent of the Sunday School and lay secretary of Synod, and is a member of the Diocesan Standing Committee.
